Update re: SCR MCA Community Renewal Fund submission for South Yorks

In March 2021, the UK Government announced £220 million investment in the UK Community Renewal Fund (UKCRF).

Sheffield City Region Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) was designated as a lead authority by the UK Government.

Working with the four local councils of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, and Sheffield, we sought proposals from across the region for submission to the Government in June.

Following a competitive bidding process from across South Yorkshire, the MCA submitted a total of 11 schemes to the Government by the deadline of 18 June.

In total, 66 projects were submitted as part of the process with a total value of £49.2m. This was set against a maximum of £3m available in each of the four council areas.

Because the total value of schemes submitted exceeded the threshold of funding available, the MCA reviewed all schemes in line with the criteria set out by the Government, the MCA’s assurance processes and an assessment of local strategic fit.

Schemes were then ranked to enable a compliant submission to be made in line with the maximum funding available.
