Hinrichsen Foundation Accepting Applications to Promote Music

The Hinrichsen Foundation is offering grants to charities and other organisations to support the performance of contemporary music, which may include the commissioning of new work, non-commercial recording, or even publication.

 There are two levels of funding available:

  • One-off small grants typically between £500 and £2,500.
  • Larger projects or concert series generally £2,000 and over.

The next deadline for applications is 5th June, 2023.

National Express Foundation’s Community Grant Scheme Open

The National Express Foundation 2023 funding focus is to help community groups that support young people (aged 15 to 24 years) continue to build back from the pandemic.

There is a total budget of £100,000.

Projects need to fit into one or more of the following funding themes:

  • Diversionary Activities.
  • Environmental.
  • Employability.
  • Wellbeing.

Applications will be accepted from charities, Community Interest Companies (CIC), voluntary groups, and sports and community clubs. There is a two-stage application process.

The deadline for first stage applications is 6th June, 2023.

National Express Foundation Community Grant Scheme Details


New Funding for Accredited Museums to Connect Communities 

The Association of Independent Museum’s (AIM’s) Connected Communities scheme offers grants that will improve community connections through high-quality volunteering opportunities and/or reducing loneliness and increasing social bonds.

The programme is open to Arts Council Accredited and non-accredited museums and partnerships or consortia in one of the 27 eligible areas in England – Doncaster being one of them.

Organisations do not need to be members of AIM to apply.

Grants of between £15,000 to £100,000 are available.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 12pm on 8th June, 2023.

Connect Communities Scheme Details


Healthy Heart Grants Now Open

Working in partnership with the SUBWAY franchise, Heart Research UK is accepting applications to the next round of its programme for the promotion of heart health.

Funding is for new projects that work with communities to prevent heart disease, particularly for vulnerable and isolated groups of individuals who are at an increased risk of developing heart problems in the future.

Not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. This includes charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, and sports groups.

The deadline to apply is 8th June, 2023.

Youth Investment Fund Refurbishment Grants Now Open

Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Social Investment Business are now accepting applications to the Youth Investment Fund Refurbishment Grants programme.

The funding is intended to support smaller organisations to renovate their youth facilities, with a focus on allowing groups to either extend their reach or preserve existing services.

The building must be in an area identified as high priority based on a combination of youth need and low provision. An eligibility checker can be found on the Social Investment Business website.

Grants of £10,000 to £150,000 are available. They can cover a mix of capital, revenue and contingency costs.

The deadline to apply is midnight on 9th June, 2023.

Wolfson Foundation Offers Capital Funding for Secondary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges

The Wolfson Foundation, invites applications twice a year from state funded schools or colleges. The second round of 2023 is currently accepting applications for decisions in December 2023.

The usual grant range is:

  • £15,000 – £50,000 for equipment projects.
  • £15,000 – £100,000 for new build and refurbishment projects.

Match funding is required and the Foundation operates a two-stage application process. 

The current deadline for stage one applications is 10th June, 2023.

Schools & Sixth Form Colleges Funding Details


Co-op Local Fund reopens for 2023 Applications

Voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations  can now apply for grants from the Co-op Local Community Fund, which allows Co-op members to support the projects they care most about.

Funding is determined by Co-op community members who vote on the project they wish to support in their local community.In most areas, this is between £1,000 and £3,000 on average.

The deadline to apply is 11th June, 2023.

Poundland Foundation Reopens to Applications

Groups can now apply for the next round of Poundland Foundation’s Kits for Kids programme, which will see local children’s teams and clubs provided with new sports kit.

The funding is available for local charities, community interest companies and unregistered community organisations.

Organisations can apply for grants of up to £750. These must be spent on kit (clothing) for under 18s sports clubs.

The deadline to apply is 5pm on 13th June, 2023.

New Round of Environmental Pride Funding 

A new round of Environmental Pride funding – which could see community groups receive grants of up-to £5,000 – is now open until 14th June 2023!

The climate-themed community fund – a joint initiative run by City of Doncaster Council and St Leger Homes – will invite community groups to apply for funding and support with projects that demonstrate they both support the natural environment and make a difference to their community.

This funding stream will be split into 2 categories :-

  • Category 1 – Physical improvements to the natural environment (£100-£5,000)
  • Category 2 – Activities/events with a public open space (up to £1,000 available per event)

On top of the funding, community groups can request a range of support, including but not limited to:

  • Extra volunteer support
  • Business advice
  • Consultation with council officers
  • Promotion
  • Materials

New £165m Fund to Help Improve Local Skills

The Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) is designed to enable further education (FE) providers across a geographic area to respond collectively to the priorities in the local skills improvement plans (LSIPs).

This funding programme will :

  • Provide investment in new facilities and equipment
  • Fund the delivery and development of new courses and curriculum
  • Support excellence in college leadership, governance and teaching to create a sustainable approach to addressing local skill needs, particularly at levels 3 to 5.

A lead applicant must submit an application, on behalf of the provider collaboration for each LSIP area.

The closing date for stage 1 applications is 12pm on 20th June, 2023.

Veolia Environmental Trust Reopens for Applications for 2023

Veolia Environmental Trust is offering grants to constituted, not-for-profit organisations, local authorities, and environmental bodies enrolled with ENTRUST to support projects that make improvements to community facilities and the natural environment in communities located near a qualifying Veolia site. 

For this round of funding, the Trust is looking for projects that: 

  • Protect and enhance biodiversity and natural habitats.
  • Inspire the creation of a sustainable carbon-neutral space.
  • Promote community action and well-being.
  • Are inclusive and accessible to everyone and anyone to use.

The next deadline for applications is 12pm on 22nd June, 2023.

Veolia Environmental Trust Details


NLHF and AHF Launch £5m Fund to Revive Unused Historic Buildings 

The National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF), working in partnership, have launched the new three-year £5 million UK Heritage Development Trusts Programme.

The programme aims to create a UK-wide network of financially resilient organisations that revive unused buildings and support regeneration in some of the country’s most deprived places and communities.

There is a total budget of £5 million and it is a two-stage application process.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 9am on 26th June, 2023.

£2 Million Fund to Utilise Technology for Better Care

The Health Foundation is providing a £2m programme which will explore the potential for using technology to enable care at home and in the community. 

Care providers can apply for funding of up to £30,000 to participate in phase 1 of the programme, and then the most promising ideas will progress to phase 2 and phase 3.  

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 29th June, 2023.

National Churches Trust Accepting Small Grant Applications for Summer 2023

The National Churches Trust supports and promotes places of worship of historic, architectural and community value used by Christian denominations throughout the UK.

The Trust offers three levels of funding: large grants of up to £50,000; medium grants of up to £10,000 and small grants of up to £5,000.

The next deadline for applications 11.59pm on 29th June, 2023.

Wolfson Foundation Round Two of Funding for Places Opens

Through its main grants programme, the Wolfson Foundation, awards capital grants to organisations working across the fields of education, science and medicine, health and disability, heritage, humanities and the arts. The funding can be used for buildings (new build or refurbishments) and equipment.

The minimum grant is £15,000.

There are two funding rounds per year and the Foundation operates a two-stage application process. 

The Round 2 deadline for stage one applications is 1st July, 2023.

Large Strategic Grants from Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust

The Reaching and Supporting Armed Forces Communities Fund has reopened for 2023, with a focus on delivering real change among vulnerable Armed Forces communities who are most impacted by cost-of-living challenges.

This year, grants of up to £100,000 over two or three years are available.

The Fund is open to UK charities and Community Interest Companies (CICs) and UK Armed Forces units.

The first deadline to apply is 5pm on 3rd July, 2023.

Pilgrim Trust’s Young Women’s Mental Health Programme Opens for 2023

Non-profit groups can now apply to the next grants round from Hilden Charitable Fund which aims to address disadvantage, notably by supporting causes which are unlikely to raise funds from public subscriptions.

Activities must fall into one of two programme areas:

  • Asylum seekers
  • Penal Affairs

The deadline to apply is 4pm on 7th July, 2023.

New Deadlines for Archives Revealed – Scoping Grants

Groups will can apply to the next round of Scoping Grants from the National Archives and Pilgrim Trust, designed to transform access to archives for a wide range of users and enable more people to engage with the UK’s rich documentary heritage.

Grants of up to £3,000 are available to public sector bodies and registered charities and other not-for-profit organisations..

Round 17 will open on 14th June, 2023 and close on 12th July, 2023.

Force for Change Programme Accepting 2023 Applications

Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust is offering one-year grants of up to £15,000 to deliver changes or improvements for UK Armed Forces communities, particularly for those who are experiencing particular needs due to cost-of-living challenges.

Funding can cover continuation of existing work, provision of pilot activities or projects that build on earlier work with vulnerable Armed Forces communities.

The next deadline to apply is 5pm on 17th July, 2023.

Power to Change New Discovery Fund

The Discovery Fund is a new fund offered by Power to Change. Running over nine months, the fund is looking to work collaboratively with 20 community organisations who are interested in making and using technology to meet some of their current challenges.

There is particular interest in projects led by communities experiencing ethnic or racial inequity, discrimination or inequality, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, and people who are seeking asylum or who are refugees.

The Discovery Fund will close for applications at 12pm on 21st July, 2023.

Round 2 of IUK’s Foundations Competition Announced

The aim of this Innovate UK (IUK) competition is to help businesses use design methods to lay the foundations for innovative ideas with the potential to deliver significant benefits. This competition is split into two strands:

  • Design Foundations Round 2, Strand 1: Responsive
  • Design Foundations Round 2, Strand 2: Net Zero Living

Each project’s grant funding request must be equal to their project costs. Requests must be between £40,000 and £80,000 and is open to collaborations only.

Applications are accepted until 11am on 26th July, 2023.

Energy Learning Network Grant 

As part of its £10 million Energy and Climate Fund, the National Lottery Community Fund is offering £1.5 million to one UK partnership in order to develop an Energy Learning Network.

It is expected that the successful partnership will provide support in both energy efficiency and generation.

Funding will cover a period of three to five years.

Interested partnerships are required to contact National Lottery Community Fund in advance before submitting an application for Energy Learning Network funding.

The deadline to apply is 28th July, 2023.

Cycling UK Reopens Big Bike Revival Grants Programme for 2023

Cycling UK is offering grants of up to £2,000 for voluntary and community cycle groups and other not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects and activities that encourage people who don’t cycle to cycle, encourage people to cycle more often and improve people’s confidence to cycle

Funding can be used for staff costs, equipment purchases, consumables, venue hire etc.  

The deadline for applications is 31st July, 2023.

National Lottery Grants for Heritage now Offering up to £10m

As part of its new 10-year strategy, Heritage 2033, the National Lottery Grants for Heritage programme is doubling its upper limit for applications from £5 million to £10 million.  

Groups will be required to submit a supporting document of 500 words or less outlining how their project will respond to the following  four principles:-

  • Saving heritage
  • Protecting the environment
  • Inclusion, access and participation
  • Organisational sustainability

The next deadline for projects over £250,000 is 17th August, 2023.

Research England Launches Funding for Museums, Galleries and Collections

Research England is providing funding to allow higher education museums, galleries and collections (HEMG) to provide a service to the wider research community.

The museum, gallery or collection must provide a unique and significant contribution to research and scholarship to justify support.

Applicants must be a museum, gallery or collection based at an approved fee cap higher education provider.

Landscape Recovery Scheme 

Farmers and landowners are invited to apply for a share of the Landscape Recovery Scheme which is a £15 million fund for projects that create new habitats, help enhance nature protection, and drive sustainable food production.

All private land managers, landowners, farmers, charities etc are eligible to apply

Public bodies can also apply, but only in collaboration with private land managers (landowners or tenants).

The deadline for Round Two applications is 12pm on 21st September, 2023.

Parkinson’s UK Physical Grants Opens for 2023 Applications

The Parkinson’s UK Physical Activity Grants Programme offer grants of between £500 and £3,000 to develop new activities for people affected by Parkinson’s to participate in physical activity and sport or increased participation in these areas.

Projects must last for at least three months and applications are welcome from activity providers, national governing bodies, Parkinson’s groups and branches, and sports and healthcare professionals.

Applications will be accepted until 30th November, 2023 and will be considered on a monthly basis.

International Tree Foundation Accepting Applications for Tree Planting Projects

International Tree Foundation has reopened the UK Tree Planting Grant Programme for the 2023 planting season and is offering grants for community-based organisations to conserve, restore and protect indigenous trees and woodlands, forests, habitats, and associated biodiversity and support community engagement in tree planting.

Grants of up to £1,000 are available for projects of up to one year.

The deadline for applications is 15th December, 2023.

Heat Networks Funding Stream Opens New Round

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is providing grants through the Heat Networks Delivery Unit (HNDU) to help identify, evaluate and develop new heating and cooling networks and the expansion of existing heating and cooling networks.

Organisations are invited to bring forward ambitious and innovative proposals to develop and deliver low carbon heat networks.

The fund will meet 67% of the estimated eligible external costs.

The deadline for applications is 12pm on 31st December, 2023.

New Round of Individuals and Families Funding

British Gas Energy Trust is an independent charitable body set up to support those who are struggling to pay their bills, regardless of energy provider.

The Individuals and Families Fund is intended to tackle fuel poverty by clearing the energy debts of struggling households and respond to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

Grants to cover arrears of up to £1,500 will be credited to the energy account of eligible households.

Applications are submitted on a rolling basis.

National Lottery Community Fund Offering Support for Windrush 75 Applications

Though it is now too late to apply for funding in time for Windrush Day itself, groups are still encouraged to apply for grants to commemorate Windrush throughout the year.

Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available for up to one year for projects that:

  • Involve people and communities from the start.
  • Build on people’s strengths.
  • Are connected in their community.

In June 2023, the NLCF is delivering online application clinics to support organisations applying for Windrush 75 funding.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Skills Bursaries for Professional Development in the Archives Sector

National Archives is offering bursaries to archivists and heritage professionals as part of its 2023/24 grants programme.

Funding is intended to provide archivists with training, career professional development or mentoring that would not usually be available in their own organisational development programmes.

The programme is open to any individual working with a recognised archive collection and can includes employees, trustees or volunteers.

The maximum grant per individual is £500.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
