Opportunity Sheffield’s Advancing Digital programme provided Sheffield homeless charity, Roundabout, with funded Microsoft Excel training to upskill their team this summer.
Although their team already used Excel, they wanted a deeper understanding in analysing and arranging data, to work more efficiently. 11 members of staff joined the one-day course taught by AJ Training, Rotherham. Geoff Ticehurst, Central Services Manager at Roundabout, said:
“Booking onto the course was really simple and it was tailored to the skill levels of my staff and our business needs. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback from everyone.
“My staff have been able to use the skills they learnt, as soon they got back to the office. I’ve definitely seen better reports being produced and that’s really benefitting our day-to-day business tasks.”
The Excel course has helped employees from a wide range of South Yorkshire businesses, including RDD Creative, Leo Alexander Wealth & Financial Management and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
Advancing Digital was launched in February 2022 to help fill the digital skills gap in South Yorkshire. It is aimed at all employed people, but especially those in lower-level roles.
So far, the programme has helped more than 370 participants access over 250 courses through their online training platform. Other courses include Leadership and Management, SharePoint, Digital Security, Power BI (Business Intelligence) and Digital Marketing.
Advancing Digital is part of Opportunity Sheffield, the employment and skills service at Sheffield City Council, and is part funded by the European Social Fund.
