Local Supported Employment Sheffield (LSE), based within Opportunity Sheffield, the Employment and Skills Service at Sheffield City Council, is taking referrals.
Our friendly team helps people with learning disabilities, learning difficulties or autism to find paid employment and flourish in the workplace. We can help you to find employment in a role that you enjoy.
Our support includes:
• a person-centred service, where we listen to you and your aspirations
• training so you can build basic skills that employers value
• job searching tips
• preparation for interview and accompanied support at interview
• chances to meet local employers that offer work experience, taster shifts or working interviews
• engaging with employers on your behalf
Once you are in work, we offer post-employment support so you can learn your role. We can also help with extending your hours, changing roles, career progression and making sure everything goes well.
The service is part-funded by the Department for Work and Pension (DWP). To be eligible you must be:
- 18 years old or over
- not be on another DWP contracted employment programme or provision
- not be in work or full-time education
- have a learning disability or difficulty or otherwise neurodivergent.
The deadline for 2024-25 referrals is Thursday 31 July 2025.
To find out more, email: sse@sheffield.gov.uk or call: 0114 229 6188 and ask for the LSE team.
