Olympia Fitness offers training and mentorship sessions at Park Library Centre

Olympia Fitness is launching its funded (free) fitness programme three times a week from Park Library Centre on Duke Street in Sheffield.

Olympia Fitness is based in Burngreave and is a community-driven social enterprise focused on transforming the lives of young people through fitness and peer mentorship.

Founded by Trevor Chrouch, a former professional bodybuilder and ex-offender, Olympia provides structured programmes to combat youth crime and social challenges in one of Sheffield’s most deprived areas.

Its two core initiatives—Street 2 Strength Youth Club for ages 11–16 and the 12-Week Bootcamp for ages 17+ offer a safe environment for physical training, life skills development, and mentorship led by role models with lived experiences.

Since launching, these programmes have reached over 130 participants, many of whom report improvements in fitness, self-confidence, and community involvement.

The impact of Olympia’s programmes extends beyond physical health, promoting personal growth, resilience, and positive behavioural changes. Mentors who share similar life journeys play a crucial role in building trust and relatability, making their guidance more impactful.

Participants often credit the mentorship model for helping them avoid criminal activities and focus on education or career pathways. Despite its success, Olympia faces challenges, including the need for better mental health support, stronger referral pathways, and solutions to economic barriers that sometimes drive youth back to crime. Addressing these gaps could further amplify its positive impact on Sheffield’s most vulnerable communities.

Funded by Great Places Housing, Olympia offers sessions on Mondays for young adults, Wednesdays as a youth club and Fridays for adults. No need to register, just drop-in. more information can be found in the flyer below.
