Reed in Partnership and Money Guiders Network hosts Strong Money Conversations event

The Money Guiders Network, in collaboration with Reed in Partnership, is running an event about how to speak to clients about their finances. Strong Money Conversations: A framework for confident dialogue will take place at The Circle in Sheffield on Thursday 26 March, from 9:15am to 1:30pm.

This free session will explore how practitioners can structure money conversations for the best possible outcomes, including navigating difficult or secondary conversations with individuals who may be reluctant or vulnerable. The session will cover three key areas:

  • Practical skills and financial knowledge: Cutting through jargon, refreshing skills, and building confidence to support others effectively.
  • Creating effective conversation structures: Handling secondary conversations and managing more challenging moments with clarity.
  • Engaging with vulnerable individuals: Approaching sensitive discussions with empathy, awareness of unconscious bias, and strategies to build trust.

Event speakers include:

  • Jenny Wright – Regional Partnership Manager, Money and Pensions Service
  • Ian Brewer – Community Development Lead, Bradford District Credit Union
  • Kelly Conlan – Senior Advisor (Welfare Benefits and Housing), Independent Age
  • Louis Zarins-Brown – Director of Operations, Money Buddies (Independent money advice service)

There will also be a Q&A panel featuring the speakers and Rachel Harte from Money First Aid.

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow frontline money guiders, share experiences, and build valuable connections that will strengthen your practice.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. You can learn more and book your free ticket on the Eventbrite website.

The Money Guiders England Network is a free community of practice, on behalf of the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS). The network is open to anyone holding any type of money conversation that does not include regulated money advice.
