Business Development Advisor
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £18k – £22k (depending on experience) plus attractive bonus
Portland Training are currently expanding and have an exciting opportunity available for the right candidate to join our team.

Key responsibilities:
- Engage and develop relationships with employers to generate a pipeline of learners who are eligible and keen to undertake company training programmes
- Researching and cold calling businesses to promote our funded and commercial courses
- Appointment setting with decision makers to discuss their training and recruitment needs
- Maximise all sales opportunities and achieve targets for learner starts
- Promote / cross sell further training opportunities relevant to the sector
- Gathering of data to enrol employers / learners onto courses
- Inputting data onto relevant software programmes
- May be required to carry out other duties as requested by your line manager
The Business Development Advisor will have the following experience:
- The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the Work Based Learning Sector
- Ideally the candidate will have background knowledge in the construction and engineering sector
- Proven experience of working towards targets
- Excellent communication and time management skills

- Basic understanding of Microsoft packages with a focus on Word and Excel

Business Development Administration Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £146.25 per week
Responsible to: Business Development Team Leader
Purpose of Job: To support Business Development Team in their day to day roles and ensure learner data is organised, accurate and up to date. To ensure paperwork is ordered in preparation of employer/learner signups to be carried out by enrolment officers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Business Development Advisors in gathering of data for learners/employers
- Ordering paperwork for enrolment officers
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required by the Business Development Team Leader and management team
- Inputting data onto relevant software programmes
- Researching companies for Business Development Advisors to contact
- Arranging interviews for candidates
- May be required to cold call businesses to promote our funded and commercial courses
- May be required to carry out other reasonable duties as requested by you line manager
Skills Required
- Accuracy of data inputting and a good eye for detail
- Good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise work-load and meet deadlines
- Basic understanding of Microsoft packages with a focus on Word and Excel
- Ability to work alone or under supervision
- Desire to learn, progress and build a career in the training industry
- Demonstrate confidence and ability to work on own initiative
Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) grades A* – C/9 – 4 in English and maths.
This is an exciting new role, with the potential for progression for the right person.
37.5 Hours per week
Mon – Thur 9am to 5pm
Fri – 8.30 am to 4.30pm
£3.90 per hour = £146.25 per week
Expected Duration: 15 months
Possible Start Date: 03/06/19
Training to be provided
Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard
Functional skills if required
Training will be provided by Portland Training in all aspects of the level 3 Business Administrator standard.
You will be supported by a tutor, assessor and your line manager throughout your apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship is set at level 3 and would suit a confident person with some relevant experience.
