Opportunity Sheffield is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Opportunity Sheffield team at Sheffield City Council as the IAG/Apprenticeship Adviser.

We work with all schools across Sheffield to equip young people to make successful transitions in learning and work. This is an exciting time for apprenticeships – there are options at all levels with more young people choosing this route as the next step after leaving school.

As the IAG/Apprenticeship Adviser, you will be responsible for explaining the apprenticeship offer to Years 10 – 13 at local schools and help interested young people take their first steps into their chosen career.  You will also develop and maintain good working relationships with other partners, agencies and employers to support the programme.

We are looking for an individual who has a good understanding of how schools and colleges work.  An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of a range of career and learning progression routes (particularly apprenticeships) as well as an awareness of Government strategy for careers guidance in education settings are desirable. The IAG/Apprenticeship Advisor will also be expected to have excellent interpersonal, ICT and time management skills

You will be responsible for organising the Council’s annual flagship Apprenticeship Event which requires you to have excellent organisational skills.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.  All successful candidates are to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. We welcome applications from everyone.  Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
