Interserve: Update on remote learning options during lockdown

Written by Interserve Learning & Employment

Sheffield-based training provider Interserve Learning & Employment has a long history of supporting local residents. Over the last three decades, Interserve Learning & Employment has been working with the people of Sheffield to provide employment based training courses and apprenticeship programmes.

Today Interserve Learning & Employment is determined more than ever to deliver and meet the local skills priorities and needs of individuals and businesses across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Almost 12 months ago, Interserve Learning & Employment appointed Gregg Scott as the new Managing Director and since that time the level of support for local residents has gone from strength to strength.

Interserve Learning & Employment is also doing all it can to continue delivering high quality learning during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Training options

Over 50 different training options are available online and remotely including:

  • Adult education programmes such as English and maths courses, Diploma in Care, Understanding Autism, Introduction to Early Years and Certificate in Understanding Children & Young People’s Mental Health.
  • Apprenticeship programmes ranging from Level 2 – Level 5.

All training is currently delivered on a remote basis. This means that individuals and businesses can continue to learn safely, and still benefit from the support and dedication of expert trainers.

There’s been significant investment in new learning tools with services adapted to meet the needs of learners and businesses. Many changes have been implemented including remote sign up and enrolments, adapting training to individual needs, providing additional support tools and delivering training via platforms such as Zoom and WhatsApp. Training schedules have also become more flexible to accommodate people working from home who are balancing parenting, teaching and work at the same time.

Training programmes are specifically designed to meet the skills demands of key industries and sectors. Interserve Learning & Employment is constantly reviewing the impact of services and of Covid-19 to be able to provide the learning that communities are looking for. New courses and services are being developed all the time.

Interserve Learning & Employment works with some of the largest employers in the area, such as Stagecoach as well as some of the smallest businesses to support local communities and the local economy.

As the country enters its next chapter in responding to the pandemic and everyone considers what the ‘new normal’ means for them, for the individual or the business, Interserve Learning & Employment will be working alongside everyone to support local communities as much as possible.
