At South Yorkshire Housing Association, we believe that a good roof over your head is the very foundation of health, and that it is impossible to flourish without a sense of home. Our job as a housing association does not stop there. We are not just about putting roofs over heads – we work with our customers and employees to find opportunities to realise their potential, and to really make their mark.

What is Good Work?

Good Work offers free, expert support to help people find personalised, paid employment.   

The programme supports amazing people, including those living with a severe mental health condition, to find the job you deserve.

Good Work coaches work with individuals to find a role where they can use and grow their talents, and that has the hours, skills and requirements that suit.

Who is eligible?

Referrals must be over 18 years,  have a disability or a health condition or be under secondary mental health services, want to work and live within Sheffield City Region (that includes Chesterfield). 

We can provide in-work support, but this is would only be for people currently receiving support from secondary mental health services (CMHT).   The sign up process is quite lengthy due to ESF funding requirements, but as soon as the customer has attended the first 2 appointments and provided all necessary documents, they would be on the service for 9 months. 

  • Their own employment specialist to meet them on a weekly – fortnightly basis
  • A debts and benefits adviser
  • English Language tutoring
  • Potential to be part of a peer ambassador programme
  • Digital inclusion support (e.g. using IT/ computers/ smart phones etc.)

There is also a budget for client expenses which could cover the costs of interview clothes, training etc.
