SAVTE’s annual celebration event – Tues 8 Dec at 5pm on Zoom

5-5.45pm: Everyone is welcome to come and join us to hear some wonderful poetry and celebrate community learning and cultures. We will be celebrating our wonderful learners and volunteers with our special guests… 

Tawona Sithole is a poet, playwright and facilitator who was the Glasgow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network Poet in residence. He writes about his experiences coming from Zimbabwe to this country using influences from the oral traditions from his heritage. Read more about him here, or follow him on twitter @Tawona_Sithole.

Sabira Hinika is a refugee from Ethiopia who started as a learner with SAVTE at the start of 2019. Not long after her and her volunteer started writing poetry together as part of the Change the Word collective. Sabira writes about her experience as a refugee, being in a new city unable to speak the language, and her children.

6-7pm: After the celebratory section of the evening, we will have a small break and then hold the formal AGM, you are welcome to stay and here all about the work SAVTE has been up to.
