The Source – Community and Employability Department Christmas 2020 Newsletter

Written by The Source

“Although 2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone, we have a lot to celebrate here at The Source. We have stayed open for business throughout the year and the office has been open for learning since August, welcoming many learners back for classroom and online learning and training courses.

“Having achieved a 96% success rate last year, our adult maths and English classes have remained popular and we are looking forward to helping this year’s learners achieve and progress. We have also introduced essential digital skills and over 30 other free online qualifications to our adult learners which are proving popular.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have seen over 130 people secure employment, apprenticeships, traineeships and other training, through our Steps to Work programme. In 2020, we have also delivered and facilitated over 700 qualifications and helped over 500 people upskill and receive support in achieving their personal goals.

“We are enjoying working with our Traineeships again this year. Our young people have all completed their work placements, achieved their maths and English, and grown in confidence, developing resilience and work skills along the way. We have already said goodbye and good luck to three Trainees who have moved into apprenticeships/employment and we are continuing to work with the others to do the same in the New Year.

“We have continued to support other teams in The Source through our information, advice and guidance sessions, we have maintained our relationship with the community and training providers’ networks as well as working with local schools and holding drop-in sessions.”

Everyone from the Community and Employability Team wishes you and your family a very happy Christmas, we look forward to seeing you again in the New Year!
