Connecting educators and employers to inspire and prepare young people for the world of work

The Sheffield City Region Enterprise Adviser Network connects education to employers in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Our ambition is to inspire and prepare young people for the fast-changing world of work.

Many young people at schools and colleges in England have very little knowledge of and limited connection to the world of work. Research shows that young people who have at least four employer encounters with the are 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training, and can earn up to 18% more during their career.

Our purpose is to create powerful, lasting connections between local businesses and the schools and colleges in the area. We aim to help motivate young people, support them in making informed choices about their future and help them achieve against those choices.

By connecting young people with opportunities to engage with businesses and employers, we aim to inspire the next generation.

Who are we?

The SCR EAN is formed of volunteer Enterprise Advisers co-ordinated and supported by Enterprise Co-ordinators in each area. These volunteers come from employers across South Yorkshire and work directly with schools and colleges to help employers engage with young people.

Enterprise Coordinator work with schools to embed high quality employer encounters and match Enterprise Advisers with each school.

We are part of a national network run by the Careers and Enterprise Company.
