The Prince’s Trust & Sheffield emergency services recruit for next TEAM programme

SOUTH YORKSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE, WITH SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE AND THE PRINCE’S TRUST ARE RECRUITING
FOR OUR NEXT SHEFFIELD TEAM BASED AT PARKWAY AND DEARNE!
DO YOU HAVE A YOUNG PERSON BETWEEN 16 – 25 WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM OUR AWARD-WINNING PROGRAMME?

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and South Yorkshire Police have teamed up with the Prince’s Trust and Barnsley College to deliver our award winning 12 week TEAM programme. The course is open to 16 – 25 year olds and is a life changing 12 week adventure.

So far we have delivered twenty five  programmes from Barnsley, Dearne and Sheffield. In that time we have transformed over 200  young people’s lives. Also in this period we have undertaken twenty one community projects four of which  won the coveted Prince’s Trust Community impact award for Yorkshire and Humberside for three of these whilst in Goldthorpe our involvement with their community was the catalyst for the new ‘embankment project.’ A project that is even today continuing to grow.

We have had two Young Ambassadors for the region, one recently winning Regional Ambassador of the year and shortlisted for a Pride of Britain Award. Three Rising Stars young people who have gone on to full time employment after a difficult start. All of this work was recently recognised when His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales requested to meet one of our teams.

The Prince’s Trust Team programme will be based at Sheffield (Parkway) Fire Station and Rotherham (Dearne), the young people will get involved in team building activities, a community project and two weeks of work experience during the course. They will also get advice on employability,  as well as gaining nationally recognised qualifications including;

•          Level 2 HABC Food Hygiene

•          Level 1 Mental Health awareness

•           Level 2 HABC Working Safely

•           Prince’s Trust Qualification in Employment, Teamwork and Community.

Add to this enrichment sessions on

•         Dementia awareness

•         Drug awareness

•         Internet security

•         Drive for life

•         Nourishment and nutrition

•         Sexual health

Our programme is without doubt leading the way for its content and delivery and we hope to be able to offer this throughout the South Yorkshire region within the next 12 months. Offering these fantastic opportunities to many more young people in our region for many years to come.

Obviously with COVID we have had to look at new ways to engage, with more fire input than ever before our teams are learning more every single team.

As we are the emergency services, we will be delivering extra activities to make our programme one of a kind in the Yorkshire area OUR VIDEO
