South Yorkshire Police: Recruitment Opportunities and Diversity

On Friday 18 June, Laura Brown, Talent Acquisition Business Partner at South Yorkshire Police attended the Teacake Club to discuss the local force’s upcoming recruitment plans.

SYP will be going live with its next Student Officer “Be The Future” recruitment campaign on the 19 July 2021 and accepting applications for its Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.

As part of SYP’s Positive Action initiative, the force is committed to improving representation amongst new recruits to ensure SYP is representative of the community it serves.

The biggest area of underrepresentation is within ethnic minority groups across both police staff and Police Officers and the National Uplift is an opportunity to increase representation of Police Officers within these groups.

SYP is seeking support to encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to consider a career in policing, particularly those from ethnic minority backgrounds/hard to reach communities to continue our commitment to be a Force that is truly representative of the community
