2021/22 is an exciting period of growth for us as we expand our offering throughout the South Yorkshire region, starting with a new centre in central Sheffield from which our Traineeships and adult education opportunities will be running. A breakdown of our current opportunities is as follows:
- The opportunity to gain a vocational qualification in your chosen sector, as well as completing a 70 hour work placement
- Maths and English / Functional Skills qualifications where these haven’t already been achieved
- Essential Digital Skills
- A dedicated Mentor to assist in personal and social development, with 1:1 support available
- Employability support to prepare learners for the world of work: support throughout placement, improving skills and planning next steps
Care leavers and people facing multiple barriers (19-24)
We have specific funding to support care leavers, or people who may face multiple barriers to employment, education and training. We recognise that these learners will require holistic support, with an understanding of their lived experience and the ways this impacts their progression. The focus is less on a specific vocational pathway, and more on developing employability, confidence, social skills and the coping strategies needed to succeed in work and life. There will also be the opportunity to fill in any gaps in terms of maths and English and IT. We will support learners through to their next step, be it an apprenticeship or employment, and take a multiagency approach to working alongside their existing support networks to enabling them to flourish. These courses can be between 6-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks or 13+ weeks, depending on the learner and their specific needs.
For adults who are NEET or perhaps in work and looking to upskill or progress, we have various courses (online and in classroom) up to Level 3 available:
• Business Administration
• Adult Care
• Customer Service
• English and Maths
• Essential Digital Skills
• Team Leading and Management
• Retail and Hospitality
• Health and Safety and Warehousing
We are also working with employers to offer Sector Work Academy Programmes for those seeking employment.
There is no cost involved for any of our opportunities, as we are a government-funded training provider. We also have the flexibility to deliver our programmes on your site, should there be sufficient interest.
If you have any candidates who may be suitable for any of our opportunities, or to discuss further, please contact our Centre Manager Chris Hull on:
