Background:

Yes2Ventures is a well-established, Sheffield based charity that helps people who are disadvantaged in the labour market to lead more fulfilled lives.

It has an employment arm with an excellent track record of working creatively with job seekers and employers to get results; it runs a travel support service that for ten years has helped vulnerable people get safely where they want to go, and it has now developed a city centre social enterprise that is building capacity to employ, train and empower people across a wide variety of job sectors.

Following a management review, The Yes2Ventures Board sees that the time is right to expand its work to meet increasing social needs in innovative ways.

We wish to recruit two Employment Support Managers to work in a small supportive team, led by an experienced Employment Service Manager/ Occupational Therapist (see job description and person spec).

We want to recruit a Travel Support Service Manager to take some of the day-to-day pressure off the existing Manager/Team Leader who is working to full capacity (see job description and person spec).

We want to recruit two Enterprise Service Managers to support our Chief Executive/Team Leader in maximising employment opportunities at our new city centre outlet – The Social in Snig Hill (see job description and person spec).

All of these posts are offered on the basis of a 30-hour flexible week at a salary of £21k or £26,250 for a full-time position.  There are generous holiday and sick pay arrangements for all staff. All post holders will be managed by a Service Manager/ Team Leader who will report directly to the Yes2Ventures Board.

The posts will be based at our Head Office in Neepsend, but it is expected that the Enterprise Service Managers will also establish a base in Snig Hill.

Employment Support Managers

We wish to recruit two Employment Support Managers to work in a small supportive team, led by an experienced Employment Service Manager/ Occupational Therapist to help people overcome barriers to employment caused by their own circumstances, by the inflexibility of some employers and by society’s attitude towards some health related and social issues. We offer expertise in supporting people who have learning disabilities, mental health issues and autism, but we know that it can be just as difficult for some people with no defined disability or health condition to find a job.

Job Description for Employment Support Managers

1.To find ways of engaging with Sheffield residents (18+) who are unemployed and want to work.

2.To try to understand the individual health related, psychological, or social barriers to work experienced by each person referred to us, and to help overcome them.

3.To liaise with Y2V’s Enterprise Service Managers to create empowering and confidence building opportunities for our recruits.

4.To build positive relationships with local agencies that support people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and autism.

5.To engage with local employers, Sheffield City Council and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to broker appropriate employment opportunities.

Travel Support Service Manager

We want to recruit a Travel Support Service Manager to take some of the day-to-day pressure off the existing Manager/Team Leader who is working to full capacity. He cannot manage a service that moves 130 people a day at the same time as responding to regular requests to expand and diversify.

Job Description for a Travel Support Service Manager

  1. To prepare and distribute weekly rotas for our driver/support workers.
  • To ensure that driver/support workers can do their job well through providing appropriate instruction, training and support.
  • To ensure that all driver/support workers are insured, security cleared and that their vehicles (including wheelchair accessible vehicles) are roadworthy.
  • To do the work of a driver/support worker as and when required.
  • To recruit new customers that can benefit from our support service through liaison with Sheffield City Council and other relevant bodies.
  • To negotiate all aspects of a relationship with a customer – specific support needs, time and place of support, price for support and contact details.
  • To identify and develop new business for the Support Service.

We want to recruit two Enterprise Service Managers to support our Chief Executive/Team Leader in maximising employment opportunities at our new city centre outlet – The Social in Snig Hill. We need to make creative use of our premises and to market our services if we are to grow and prosper.

Job Description for Enterprise Service Managers

  1. To ensure that The Social in Snig Hill is a clean, safe and attractive venue that promotes the core activities of Yes2Ventures.
  • To make best use of the space at The Social in line with Y2V’s objectives and with an eye to income generation.
  • To liaise with and co-ordinate the work of workshop leaders in arts and crafts (artSocial and craftSocial), food preparation (foodSocial), information provision (infoSocial), bar and cellar work (barSocial) and our nearby microbrewery (brewSocial).
  • To advertise Y2V’s presence at The Social in innovative ways, using our website, social media, print media, advertising boards and word of mouth.
  • To connect with local businesses and with third sector organisations for mutual benefit.
  • To identify and help implement ways of developing new enterprises at The Social on sound business principles.
