Groundwork has secured some funding from John Lewis to run a green employment support programme for adults 18 plus in Sheffield. The 6-week programme, which is free for participants, will now commence in July rather than April to allow additional time for recruitment.
On each cohort, participants will spend two days a week with a qualified horticulture tutor undertaking a NOCN Level 1 Horticulture qualification, they will also have the opportunity to do additional qualifications, brushcutter training (industry recognised), CSCS card as well as health and safety/manual handling.
Some of this will have to be undertaken in their own time. One outcome of this project is that green spaces for community use are enhanced/improved.
Those attending will receive a voucher for lunch each day and full PPE. We intend to run the programme in Sheffield (for Sheffield resident) 3 times from April 2022 through to April 2023. We hope to recruit 10 – 12 participants per group.

Group 1: 7, 14, 15, 21, 22 July, 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 August 2022 (9 – 3 pm)
Group 2: 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 27-28 October, 3-4, 10-11 November 2022 (9 – 3 pm)
Group 3: 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31 January 2023, 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 February 2023 (9 – 3 pm)
