Claimant count figures for December 2022 have been released. Overall, there were 15,065 people included in the count (3.9% of the working age population). 15,065 is an increase of 265 on November 2022, but 2,775 fewer than in December 2021.
The count reduced for people of all ages, with the greatest percentage reduction amongst people aged 50+ (-22%). The group showing the least reduction were those aged 16-24 where the count fell by 160, (5.2%).
At ward level, every ward showed a reduction from a year previously with Burngreave showing the greatest numerical reduction (-405) but Dore and Totley showed the greatest percentage reduction of -28.2% (-55 people)
