The role: Chief Executive
Hours: 37 hours per week (can be negotiable)
Salary: £50,000 per annum (negotiable depending on the experience and
knowledge of the successful candidate)

About the Trust:

Manor and Castle Development Trust is a charitable organisation. We work within the
electoral ward of Manor and Castle, Sheffield. Our initiative is to support the
community to develop enterprising solutions that bring about positive economic, social
and environmental change. We do this through facilitating community centres,
Employment Support, and Health and Wellbeing groups and
courses, among other things


The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the organisation in the role of Chief Executive. As CEO
you will have responsibility for strategic management and overall coordination of all MCDT’s
mix of activities, assets and income sources with the potential to innovate and build on
previous success.

Main duties:

  • To ensure that the Trust is delivery it’s mission by developing and implementing it’s strategy successfully.
  • Demonstrate the values of the Trust by embedding supportive leadership.
  • To advocate for local people and ideas arising from the communities, within the context of the Trusts vision.
  • To undertake business development, including needs assessment, prioritisation, business plans, identifying funding, writing bids and project management where appropriate.
  • To ensure effective systems for the management of finances, staff, facilities and health and safety are in place and maintained.
  • To build and maintain relationships with other VCF organisations and projects in the Manor and Castle area and citywide.
  • To manage the day-to-day operations of the Trust and Line Manage the Senior Management Team, providing support and guidance as required.
  • To facilitate the development of partnerships, including local people and groups, to work together to achieve agreed goals.

We are looking for:

  • Someone who is educated to degree level or an equivalent standard.
  • Experience of effectively managing resources across an organisation, including cash
    flow management and general budgeting
  • Previous experience of working in an organisation with a focus on Community
    Development
  • Successful track record of leadership at a senior level in a complex and diverse
    environment
  • Experience of effective business development, strategic planning, annual planning,
    service change and risk management
  • Experience of successful fundraising from multiple sources
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Regulatory and Governance requirements of
    charitable organisations.
  • Awareness of the Manor and Castle ward and the economic and social challenges
    associated.
  • Political awareness in dealing with a range of public bodies
  • Evidence of shared values with the Trust
