An invitation to Opportunity Sheffield’s Welfare to Work Recognition Event 2020

Wednesday 9th December (10am-1pm) on Zoom

With the intention of highlighting some of the positives to emerge from a challenging year, Opportunity Sheffield is organising a welfare-to-work recognition event on Wednesday 9th December.

Sheffield City Council’s employment and skills service is inviting partners and other employability stakeholders from across the city to join the online discussion and celebration event via Zoom from 10am to 1pm.

The intention is to focus on the achievements of welfare-to-work practitioners and clients in difficult circumstances throughout 2020, to share knowledge and best practice, and help navigate the collective challenges that lie ahead for the sector.

Items on the agenda will include:

  • Opportunity Sheffield awards – including Participant(s) of the Year, Adviser of the Year and Innovation in Delivery (open awards), plus Partner of the Year and Keyworker of the Quarter (partners only)
  • Good news stories – how providers and participants have successfully overcome barriers in 2020
  • Breakout sessions – topical discussion and feedback
  • Guest speakers
  • Sheffield City Council – labour market insight, strategic planning and funding updates
  • Light entertainment / interactive elements

Nominations for Opportunity Sheffield Awards

This year, we are offering citywide awards to recognise the most inspirational employability advisers, welfare-to-work participants and employment support initiatives. These awards are open to all organisations and professionals working across the city. As part of the awards, we will be asking clients, keyworkers, managers as appropriate to share stories of success at the recognition event.

Please see below for more information on the individual awards and application process.

We will also be naming our Partner of the Year and Keyworker of the Quarter. These awards are open to Opportunity Sheffield delivery partners and the winners will be selected by Sheffield City Council employment and skills team.

Participant of the Year 2020

Deadline for applications – Monday 16th November

Please complete the nomination form online or submit all requested information in email form to opportunity@sheffield.gov.uk.

As previously, we would like to celebrate the achievements of Sheffield’s most inspirational welfare-to-work participants in 2020. This is an opportunity to recognise individuals for their commitment in moving towards and into the labour market, and explain how employment support and/or wraparound services have helped them on this journey.

It could be someone who has been long-term unemployed, who has overcome particular barriers, or someone who has gone over and above expectations to reach their goals.

This award is open to both Opportunity Sheffield partners AND organisation we do not currently contract with.

Adviser of the Year 2020

Deadline for applications – Monday 16th November

Please complete the nomination form online or submit all requested information in email form to opportunity@sheffield.gov.uk.

We would like to recognise the achievements of Sheffield employment support advisers, many of whom have gone far beyond the call of duty to support clients before and during the Covid pandemic. We’d like to hear about your most inspirational members of staff, and the lengths they have gone to engage with, support and progress welfare-to-work clients.

This award is open to both Opportunity Sheffield partners AND organisation we do not currently contract with in 2020-21.

Innovation in Delivery Award 2020

Deadline for applications – Monday 16th November

Please complete the nomination form online or submit all requested information in email form to opportunity@sheffield.gov.uk.

The challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic have required organisations to work with greater speed, agility and focus than ever before to meet the often-complex needs of clients. Many organisations have been very successful in adapting their delivery model to overcome the challenges faced by social distancing and other restrictions – we’d like you to tell us about what you’ve done, and how and why you’ve done it to make the biggest difference to your customers.

This award is open to both Opportunity Sheffield partners AND organisation we do not currently contract with in 2020-21.
