Groundwork has secured some funding from John Lewis to run a green employment support programme for adults 18 plus in Sheffield.
The programme is free for participants and will last for 6 weeks. During that time participants will spend two days a week with a qualified horticulture tutor undertaking a NOCN Level 1 Horticulture qualification, they will also have the opportunity to do additional qualifications, brushcutter training (industry recognised), CSCS card as well as health and safety/manual handling.
Some of this will have to be undertaken in their own time. One outcome of this project is that green spaces for community use are enhanced/improved.
Those attending will receive a voucher for lunch each day and full PPE. We intend to run the programme in Sheffield (for Sheffield resident) 3 times from April 2022 through to April 2023. We hope to recruit 10 – 12 participants per group.
The planned dates are:
Session 1: 4, 5, 11, 12, 19, 25, 26 April, 3, 9 10, 16, 17 May 2022 (9 – 3 pm) (Monday/Tuesday)
Session 2: 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21,27, 28 October, 3, 4, 10, 11 November 2022 (9 – 3 pm) (Thursday/Friday)
Session 3: 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28 March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 April 2023 (9 – 3) (Monday/Tuesday)
