150 participants (and counting!) receive ESF funded training through Advance Sheffield

Eight months into delivery, Opportunity Sheffield’s Advance training programme is in full swing.

The European Social Fund supported scheme, which offers training opportunities to help employees progress their career, has actively engaged with 150 participants so far, with many more in the pipeline.

Courses available

We have seen some of our early participants achieve qualifications, including Maths, English, Essential Digital Skills, ILM Team Leading etc.

There are also participants starting level 2 or 3 diplomas in September in areas such as Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Accountancy, Childcare, Adult Social Care.

There are a wide range of funded courses available through the Advance Programme to employees who are looking to boost their skills and gain qualifications to enhance their CVs.

Seeking community referrals

Of these participants, 20 participants are from a BAME background, 20 are 50+, 10 are from a Single Adult Household. 12 have a Disability, 2 are ex-offenders.

We really need to help support more people who have various barriers so assistance from the community partners across the city would be of great value.

Please let us know about any community events the Advance Team could attend to better engage with people in employment who want to update their skills to help them progress in work.

Advance is also open to those who are self-employed.
