Employ Me – Sheffield’s Working

Mencap

Employ Me is Mencap’s employment programme developed with people with a learning disability and designed to help people with a learning disability to learn new skills and find work.

The service is free to anyone unemployed with a learning disability over the age of 18.

“We will arrange an initial meeting to discuss what job you would like to do. During this meeting we will determine what level of support and training you may require to make sure we get the right match,” explains Stuart Hunter, Employment Coordinator, Sheffield Mencap Lifestyle and Work.

“We believe the best way to support people with a learning disability into paid employment is through practical support. We will help you to identify vacancies and provide support on the job, while identifying any appropriate training needs you have.

“We provide a Coordinator who will work with you to create and agree an Individual Employ Me programme of activities and will be on hand to offer support and advice throughout the process.”
