BFI Film Academy’s Specialist Programming Residential for 16–19-year-old film fans starts on Monday 28 July 2025.
A fantastic opportunity has just opened up to attend a BFI Film Academy specialist course in Cinema Programming for the indie cinema circuit consisting of a one-week residential stay in Sheffield (28 July – 3 August) with daily workshops and masterclasses, followed by one online Saturday session.
Over the duration of the course, young film fans from across the UK watch a wide range of cinema and work with industry professionals to plan and put on their own week-long film festival at Showroom Cinema, which will take place in February 2026.
Whether you’re a filmmaker, blogger, regular cinema goer, or someone who simply enjoys watching and talking about films, this exciting and intensive residential programme will give you a real insight into the world of cinema.
It’s a great opportunity for any aspiring filmmakers who want to learn about the business side of the screen industry, as well as young film fans hoping to get experience in the exhibition, distribution, and marketing of films.
