Yes2Ventures – Autumn 2019 update

Written by Mark Powell, Director, Yes2Ventures

At our ‘Tell Me About It’ Showroom event on 25th March, we agreed to hold a progress event in the autumn.  I had pencilled in the date of Tuesday 15th October, but it was not to be!  Sheffield city Council are holding an Employment Conference at St Mary’s Church and Conference Centre Bramall Lane from 9.30 till 15.00 on that day. Many of you will be attending, so I am piggybacking on that event. I’ll report back, and we will have our own event to consider the achievements of the ‘Tell Me About It’ programme next March.

For your information, Yes2Ventures now has an activity unit and offices in Percy Street, Neepsend.  We run manufacturing workshops on a Monday, art and craft workshops on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and circus skills confidence building workshops on a Friday. We also run food preparation workshops at Regather on a Wednesday and a Thursday. Our participants are all unemployed and disadvantaged in the labour market for health related and social reasons. Our task is to help people move forward in their lives through gaining confidence and experience, and through training and employment.

“It is very rewarding to see the progress that people are making, but still frustrating that most employers are unable to see beyond conventional job descriptions and person specs.  Employers want to help disadvantaged people, but on their own terms!   Our work goes on!

Please keep in touch. I look forward to seeing you in March, if not before.

Best wishes
