Construction Skills People is seeking referrals to its two training courses in Sheffield – Introduction to Construction and Construction Multi-skills.

Introduction to Construction
Duration: 3 weeks – 90 hours
What you’ll learn?
The aim of this course is to give you a thorough introduction to a variety of topics essential to working in construction. These topics include:
- Bricklaying
- Block Paving
- Manual Handling
- Health & Safety and Fire Awareness
- Using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
You will develop an understanding of the construction sector considering Health and Safety legislation and welfare, construction technology and working as part of a group. You will also explore other vocationally-relevant topics and experience practical training on basic block paving and bricklaying.
Who this course is for:
If you are aged 19+ and currently unemployed you can attend this course. The course is aimed at those interested in working in a site-based construction role for example, site logistics operatives, maintenance operatives and groundworker operatives.

Construction Multi-Skills
Duration: 7 weeks – 227.5 hours
What you’ll learn?
The Level 1 Diploma in Construction Multi-skills qualification has been developed for achievement in a training environment.
This qualification enables the learner to demonstrate and recognise their skills, knowledge and understanding so they can progress onto further training or progress into a job role in the workplace.
- Plastering walls
- Applying paint to substrates
- Building a block wall
- Constructing woodworking joints
- Fitting architrave and skirting
- Tiling walls
- Building a brick wall
- Fitting ironmongery to an internal door
- Preparing substrates for painting and decorating
- Developing customer relationships
Who this course is for:
