Our Employer Consultation is open until 24th October for you to let us know what interventions have worked, or not worked, in improving social mobility in your organisation. If you missed our launch event, or want more information about how to complete the consultation, the full recording is now available on our website.
Less than 2 weeks left to take part in our Employer Consultation!
There are less than two weeks left to respond to our new Employer Consultation, which will run until the end of the working day on 24th October 2022.
We want to understand what activities and interventions employers are finding most effective in improving social mobility within their organisations and communities – we’ll use the information provided to publish a “What Works” Report later this year, working closely with a newly established Employers Advisory Group comprising 10-12 members across different sectors who have responded to the consultation.
The information provided will be confidential, with no league table or index published. The intention is to drive an honest conversation about what works and what challenges remain, so that we can support all employers in different sectors to take effective action to improve social mobility.

Mentoring as a tool to support social mobility

Join us as we celebrate National Mentoring Day (27th October) with our October employers’ masterclass, exploring the importance of mentoring in supporting workplace progression and social mobility.
We’ll be discussing how mentoring programmes, whatever the scale, create a mutually beneficial relationship between a mentor and a mentee, and can bring as much value to your organisation as they can to an individual.
We’ll be joined by Mercy Abel, host of gen z careers podcast ‘audacity of we’ and a mentee from the Creative Mentor Network programme, as well as Rachel Dolby, a mentor from Moving Ahead’s Mission INCLUDE programme, who will share their perspectives on the benefits of mentoring schemes. We’ll also be speaking to Eddie Fletcher, Head of Social Mobility for the Ministry of Justice People Group, about what to consider when setting up a mentoring programme and how to measure success.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Culture masterclass on Tuesday 11th October.
In this masterclass we explored the importance of culture and leadership in building socio-economic inclusion within an organisation, including how organisations can develop a culture that fosters inclusion, and the role that colleagues at all levels play in driving action and change.
We were joined by I. Stephanie Boyce, President of the Law Society, who shared her insights into what works well, as well as where she sees the challenges that employers face in building an inclusive culture.
