Job vacancy: SAVTE Community and Volunteer Development Worker

  • £23,866-£24,904 (Full Time Equivalent) + 3% pension contribution
  • 28 hours over 4 or 5 days  -There may be a second job if funding becomes available during the recruitment process. In which case there will be flexibility to apply for job share.
  • Two year contract (may be extended if funding is available).                                                  

SAVTE is a Community Development organisation which is passionate about empowering speakers of other languages to take the first steps to help them develop the skills and confidence to learn functional English to enable them to become independent and active citizens in their communities.

We have been successful in gaining new funding to deliver additional provision to refugees and asylum seekers in Sheffield and are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Community and Volunteer Development Worker to join our team of community development and ESOL specialists.

We are committed to grow and diversify our volunteer base to create a mutually supportive community of learning where the emphasis is on developing self-reliance, confidence and greater engagement within the community.

We want to appoint a dynamic worker who has broad experience of working within diverse communities to join the SAVTE team to work in partnership to develop community based learning opportunities, provide volunteer training and coordination and support learners to achieve their aspirations.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have a commitment to community development values, good project development skills and be able to get on with people from all backgrounds. Experience in ESOL provision is very desirable but not essential.
