Employers are discovering that by supporting and promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace, they are gaining benefits they never imagined. The moral argument is weighty enough but the financial impact – as proven by multiple studies makes this a no brainer.
Sheffield Business Together invites you to an informal event to discuss diversity and inclusion. Hear from Sonia Tate, the DWP race equality lead who will be talking about unconscious bias, how it impacts recruitment decisions, impairing diversity and retention rates.
Join the round table discussions with other Sheffield Businesses (Henry Boot, Arup, Aviva, Irwin Mitchell, Benchmark consultancy, 3Squared, Paper) to share good practice, discuss barriers and how we can remove them.
There will also be an opportunity to meet some of the voluntary sector providers in Sheffield who enable people with barriers to employment to move into the labour market.
Sonia Tate MBE, Race Equality Lead for the Department of Work and Pensions
Sonia has over thirty years of experience in the Civil Service and currently leads on issues of Race Equality for the Department of Work and Pensions. Her role sees her provide advice across the breadth of the UK’s largest government body, and beyond, into the wider communities that DWP serves. In 2015, Sonia was awarded an MBE to recognise the achievements of her outreach work with gangs, and affiliates in Southwark.
